SAIC is seeking an entry-level Embedded Software Engineer Associate as part of the Common Aircraft Armament Test Set (CAATS) program at the Indianapolis, IN facility.
The Embedded Software Engineer Associate will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties:
- Directly support Government program(s) as an embedded software engineer throughout the entire program lifecycle
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug software applications for use in embedded military applications that require low level control processing (Interrupts, Timers, Digital I/O, and serial communication protocols)
- Develop embedded software for use on real-time and near real-time operating systems and processors
- Create supporting documentation; conduct peer reviews; and ensure software standards are met
- May be expected to possess a basic knowledge of reading schematics of complex electronic assemblies
- May be required to develop supporting test software applications
- May be expected to conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, requirements analysis and definition, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product
- Possess excellent communication skills to interface to multi-disciplinary design team
Qualifications
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree and zero (0) years' experience; additional four (4) years' experience can be considered in lieu of degree
Required Clearance:
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret security clearance; US Citizenship required
Required Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of C/C++ programming language for embedded applications
- Must be able to work well with team members and possess excellent communication skills
Desired Skills or Required Certifications:
- Experience with developing embedded applications using ARM® Cortex-M family of Microcontrollers
- Experience with IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM Integrated Development Environment (IDE), or equivalent
- Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) architectures
- Experience with utilizing lab equipment, including but not limited to digital multimeters and oscilloscopes
- Experience with Agile development process and Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) concepts
- Working knowledge or ability to read electrical schematics and datasheets
- Knowledge of MIL-STD-1553 or similar military serial communication protocols
- Basic knowledge of VHDL and FPGA design
- Active security clearance at Secret level or above
