SAIC is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support an IT Service Management effort for USTRANSCOM located at Scott Air Force Base (AFB) in Illinois. The USTC Managed Information Technology Services (MITS) contract is intended to provide strategic, technical, and program management guidance and support services to facilitate the operations and modernization of the combatant command's infrastructure, systems, and applications. This support will be provided to the USTC Command, Control, Communications & Cyber Systems Directorate (TCJ6). 

 

The successful candidate initiates, supervises, and/or develops requirements from a project's inception to conclusion for complex to extremely complex programs; Provides strategic advice, technical guidance and expertise to program and project staff; Provides detailed analysis, evaluation and recommendations for improvements, optimization development, and/or maintenance efforts for client-specific or mission critical challenges/issues; Consults with client to define needs or problems, supervises studies and leads surveys to collect and analyze data to provide advice and recommend solutions. In this role the candidate will not be writing frontend or backend web applications; instead, will own the foundational AWS ecosystem where the web pages live.

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Architecture and implement AWS GovCloud and maintain resilient hosting environments for web assets using ECS Fargate/EKS/containers

• The AWS Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable and secure website infrastructure in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud Region.

• Emphasize Cloud security, compliance, and resiliency

• Migrate and refactor web infrastructure into containers

• Manage static and dynamic hosting architectures

• Proven experience with CI/CD engineering (GitLab, Terraform)

• Experience with and understanding of blue/green deployment methodology

• Participate with senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives

• Recommend and make decisions on administrative or project work matters and ensures effective achievement of program, project, or organizational objectives

• Provide DoD-aligned documentation and governance

• Proven experience with Limited Content Management System platform administration

 

This position is for Monday through Friday, normal business hours.  However, employee may be required to provide after-hours and weekend support during planned or emergency events. 

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

 

• BS/BA + Ten (10) years or more experience

• Active DoD Secret Clearance

• AWS Cloud Engineer Certification with experience as AWS Cloud Engineer
• Must have at least one of these IAT Level II certifications: Security+, CECCNA-Security, CySA+ **, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP.

• Computing Environment (CE) certification or certificate for the technical area of responsibility for Cloud or virtualization (e.g., Azure, AWS, oracle, IBM, etc.) with a preference in Azure. 

• Experience with Redhat Enterprise Linux 8/9 command line administration.
• Experience designing, building, and managing cloud-based applications and services using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Proficient knowledge of Redhat Enterprise Linux operating system and command line administration.
• In-depth understanding of Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS), Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), and Amazon Elastic Container Registry (ECR).
• Experience preparing technical documentation.
• Configuration and change management experience working directly with/for a government customer.
• Basic proficiency in a major content management system with experience in admin functions such as permissions, configurations, patches/upgrades, and backups in cloud-based platforms.

• 15 or more years of experience

• Experience with Terraform

• Experience with Javascript/Node.js

• Experience with ECS Fargate

• Experience with Gitlab pipelines, Gitlab CI

• Experience with AWS RDS Postgres Database

• Experience with AWS monitoring and alerting tools, CloudTrail, and CloudWatch

• Demonstrated knowledge in creating and executing CI/CD pipelines

• Basic experience with a major CMS

• Experience with React/Next.js

• Proficiency in web technologies such as HTML and CSS

• Redhat Enterprise Linux 8/9 administration

 

 

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
