SAIC is seeking Business Analyst Intern to support the Government Accountability Office (GAO) Technology Information Services (TIS) Managed Services Implementation Program. The intern will be embedded within the program management office (PMO), supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of a structured, phased transition across multiple managed service workstreams spanning GAO's enterprise IT environment.
- Hybrid work 3 days a week supporting SAIC offices in Washington, DC
- Duration: Summer internship, approximately 10–12 weeks
Responsibilities:
- Assist with designing, building, and maintaining Microsoft Project schedules tracking tasks, milestones, deliverables, and interdependencies across all nine workstreams
- Support SAFe® Agile planning activities including helping decompose Epics into Features and User Stories within Kanban boards aligned to Program Increments (PIs) using Weighted Shortest Job First (WSJF) prioritization
- Assist in drafting and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across service transition workstreams, coordinating with the four-phase SOP development and harmonization roadmap
- Assist with maintaining and updating the program Risk Register, documenting risks, mitigation strategies, likelihood, consequence, and owner assignments across all nine service areas
- Assist in SLA/XLA baselining and tracking, supporting the program's four-phase SLA-to-XLA transformation journey and helping prepare unified performance dashboards
- Support preparing materials for weekly Sprint/Status meetings, monthly Executive Steering Committee briefings, monthly Change Advisory Board meetings, and bi-weekly PI Planning meetings
- Support testing coordination and Readiness Review preparation activities prior to each workstream's Transition to Managed Service milestone
- Assist in capturing and documenting lessons learned throughout the transition in alignment with the program's continuous improvement framework
- Support SAFe® Agile planning activities including helping decompose Epics into Features and User Stories within Kanban boards aligned to Program Increments (PIs) using Weighted Shortest Job First (WSJF) prioritization
Qualifications
Required:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated (within 12 months) from an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, Project Management, Public Administration, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust requiring U.S. Citizenship.
- Exceptional attention to detail in all written and analytical work products
- Demonstrated experience writing project plans, work breakdown structures, or transition plans in an academic or professional setting
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Desired:
- Prior experience in U.S. Government or federal IT contracting, including familiarity with PWS/SOW structures, contract deliverables, and federal IT compliance requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project for designing and maintaining project schedules including Gantt charts, milestones, and interdependencies
- Familiarity with SAFe® (Scaled Agile Framework) concepts including Epics, Features, User Stories, Program Increments, and Kanban boards
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to draft SOPs, risk registers, status reports, and briefing materials
- Familiarity with federal IT security frameworks such as FISMA, RMF, FedRAMP, or NIST Zero Trust standards
Target salary range: Up to $40,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
