The Program Manager is responsible for leading larger technical programs within the Defense Engineering Department. Activities include managing customer communications, creating project planning documents, and leading teams to successful completion of project technical deliverables. Focus will be on Cost, Schedule, and Performance management of the program.  The position will interface with all parts of the organization, in addition to customers, sub-contractors, etc.

As a Program Manager, you will:

  • Manage business aspects of the wiring harness program from cradle to end of life.  This includes leading the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, including the manufacturing & quality areas, to monthly reporting of program performance, to program closeout.
  • Manage, lead, train, coach, and mentor program team(s) related to their job responsibilities. Plan, schedule, and oversee coordinator activities and monitor program(s) status
  • Actively maintain customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and quality of service
  • Managing all activities associated with materials, budgeting, and production for assigned programs(s)
  • Act as liaison with the customer and program staff to properly identify and process scope changes, address issues and communicate regarding program milestones
  • Managing program related correspondence and documents through designated document management systems
  • Ensuring adherence to Roush's standards of quality, safety, and best practices along with customer specific requirements
  • Direct and manage coordination groups that assign goals for subcontractors
  • Develop and execute large program plans. Manage day-to-day build operations supporting department management. Manage the execution of continuous quality improvement activities
  • Collect data from customers, suppliers, Bill of Material, and other resources to prepare presentations and reports. Review program(s) status daily and report percentage of completion
  • Develop/optimize wiring harness business practices, processes, and procedures to fulfill customer's requirements and expectations

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or other related field
  • Minimum 4 years of program management experience and/or leading cross functional teams to established goals
  • Minimum of 2 years of years of formal or informal leadership experience
  • Experience in program management practices and execution for government and defense industry and working with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD)
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain security clearance, minimum secret level

Successful candidates may also have: 

  • Knowledge and experience in setting up low volume manufacturing and quality processes for a defense wiring harness business
  • Developing and optimizing wiring harness work instructions
  • Production control and inventory management
  • Experience with people management and team leadership, direct or indirect
  • Working knowledge of program management tools (risk analyses, communication plans, timing plans, business cases, comprehensive financial analyses)
  • Strong leadership and management skills, ability to solve complex problems, work independently, and be customer focused while managing cost, quality, and delivery
