Job Summary
The Construction & Capital Projects Manager is a pivotal role responsible for the entire life cycle of a capital project, from initial scope definition and approval to final delivery and closeout. This position ensures projects align with organizational goals, are executed within budget and schedule, and meet quality and safety standards. This role also includes managing C&C Project Coordinators to ensure execution of tasks. This position is located in Livonia, MI. 
                               
To be considered as a Construction & Capital Projects Manager, you will:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders (including operations, Purchasing and IT) to identify and document all project requirements, objectives, deliverables and success criteria.
  • Develop comprehensive and accurate cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead. This involves using techniques like vendor bid analysis, expert judgment, or bottom-up estimating to create a detailed project budget.
  • Prepare detailed reports and mitigation strategies and proposals for review and formal approval by ownership, ensuring all assumptions and potential risks are clearly communicated.
  • Create detailed project plans and schedules, defining timelines, resource allocation, and key milestones.
  • Provide oversight, leadership, and mentorship to project coordinators and the staff architect. This includes setting clear expectations, delegating tasks, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Coordinate the integration of necessary IT infrastructure and equipment, ensuring seamless building activation and occupancy.
  • Manage the procurement process, including bid evaluations, contract negotiations, and vendor selection for materials and services.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and conducting regular site inspections. Manage change orders and addressing any delays, emergencies, or problems that arise. Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, building codes, and legal requirements.
  • Coordinate department initiatives and paperwork pertaining to Roush Quality / ISO Standards.
  • Specify and document Roush interior finishes, furniture, hardware standards on each project, maintaining a uniform standard across the company.
To be considered a Construction & Capital Projects Manager, you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or construction.
  • Minimum 8 years related to multiple staff supervisory experience or the combination of education and corporate industrial construction experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to accurately define what is and is not included in project scopes.
  • Ability to read, analyze architectural and engineering drawings, technical documents and procedures, equipment specifications and interpret governmental regulations.
  • Space planning with practical design development to allow for methodical construction install.
  • Capable to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule formats.
  • Aptitude to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills to work with several levels of personnel; from inspectors, lawyers, management, co-workers to hourly shop employees.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Aptitude to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Proficiency to write business correspondence and procedure manuals. Aptitude to effectively present technical information and professionally respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, staff, consultants, suppliers, contractors and inspectors.
  • Competence using applications such as PeopleSoft, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Project, Excel and PowerPoint.
A successful candidate may also have:
  • Building interior specifications, finishes and system furniture exposure. 
  • Project Management or Accounting/Finance experience or certificates.
  • AutoCAD software.
  • Peoplesoft [Oracle based database] software familiarity.
