Description

The Senior Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading and strategically managing the Facilities Maintenance Department, ensuring excellence in operations, team development, and budgetary oversight. This senior-level position requires a proven leader who can oversee a multi-site operation, provide strategic guidance, and ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental standards. The Senior Manager will drive cost-effective practices, manage departmental budgets, and implement initiatives that align with organizational growth and objectives..

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Facilities Maintenance team to achieve optimal performance and career growth.
  • Establish and monitor departmental goals, ensuring alignment with company objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee daily operations of the maintenance team, ensuring efficiency in scheduling and execution of maintenance, repair, and project work.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to extend the life of assets and reduce downtime.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including the Request for Proposal (RFP) and bid process, contract negotiation, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure prompt response to and resolution of maintenance issues, minimizing operational disruptions.
  • Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental compliance, safety standards, and testing protocols.
  • Oversee underground storage tank (UST) and fuel equipment compliance, ensuring timely testing, reporting, and corrective actions as required.
  • Manage environmental reporting systems, including California Environmental Reporting System (CERS) compliance and documentation.
  • Assist in developing and managing the department's annual operating budget, monitoring expenditures, identifying cost-saving opportunities, tracking project budgets, and providing regular financial reports to senior leadership to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Support strategic growth initiatives, including due diligence for new acquisitions and ensuring smooth transitions for facilities-related responsibilities.
  • Plan and manage construction and capital improvement projects, including scope, budgeting, and timeline execution.
  • Leverage data and analytics to identify trends and recommend strategies for improving operational efficiency and reducing costs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10–15 years of progressive experience in multi-site facility management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale maintenance operations, including environmental compliance and construction projects.
  • Extensive experience in budget development, financial reporting, and cost control.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of implementing operational improvements.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional leadership and team development abilities, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and facility management software.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and risk management practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including plans, blueprints, and contracts.
  • Availability for occasional travel (up to 10%), including overnight stays
