Summary

RNDC is looking for innovative and collaborative Safety Asset Protection Specialist I to join our growing Operations team. The Safety Asset Protection Specialist is responsible for leading and maintaining Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and Asset Protection for all assigned facilities. Train assigned employees on all appropriate subject matter, as directed. Assume primary responsibility for the conduct of all inspections, audits, and routine examinations of work areas to ensure that they are free of recognized hazards and all established rules and procedures are being followed. Provide guidance and advice to facility management with regards to all EHS and Loss Prevention related topics. Serve as a liaison between the facility and local regulatory agencies, the community, as well as the Regional and Corporate Safety leadership. 

In this role, you will
  •  Identify all risks/hazards involved in facility operations and recommend/coordinate the appropriate control to limit occupational exposure. Coordinate with facility managers and supervisors to establish facility safety-related goals and objectives. Report to Regional and Corporate Safety leaders on any goals and objectives and seek out assistance when necessary.  
  • Fulfill all Environmental compliance requirements for your facility based on location and jurisdiction. Provide relevant training and oversight for fleet safety to all assigned CDL drivers.  
  • Conduct preliminary investigation and Root Cause Analysis on all facility incidents as defined by the company. Maintain facility safety plan, programs, and procedures. Conduct all appropriate safety training for Plant Operations, Plant Maintenance, and Transportation, as needed, at the facility level and maintain all appropriate training records.  
  • Enforce policies and procedures related to security, loss prevention, and safety. Escalate all security/LP incidents to the appropriate level. Conduct monthly facility security/LP assessments and report findings and recommendations. Communicate local and regional security risks and emergencies to appropriate leaders.  
  • Ability to use Vector-Industry Safe (LMS) for all assigned facilities. Ensuring its use for all reporting, investigating, application of corrective actions and communicating lessons learned for all incidents.  
  • Respond to facility emergencies and safety-related incidents, when possible. Interpret, implement, and verify compliance with all applicable OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory regulations, as appropriate. Conduct audits of entire facility operations for compliance in accordance with all related regulations, including plant and transportation operations.  
  • Complete and submit all reports, as directed by the Regional and Corporate Safety leaders. Coordinate with Facility managers and supervisors to ensure that any official/visitor from a regulatory agency is escorted while at the facility. Collaborate with the HR Manager to manage the Return-to-Work Program. Support the Human Resources department with other projects as applicable.  
  • Regularly review and maintain Facility 300 and 300A for accuracy. Attend local and regional safety conferences, seminars, and classes, as necessary, and remain abreast on current regulations, trends, and best practices.  
What you bring to RNDC

A combination of seven or more years relevant experience and 4-year post-high school degree, with proven experience in a safety management leadership role. Must have comprehensive and current knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing safety rules and regulations. A related post-secondary Degree program, or Environmental/Occupational Health & Safety Certification or Diploma preferred. Must be able to travel up to 10% - overnight travel required quarterly. Must be able to lift 25 lbs or more. Must have experience and knowledge in the following areas: • Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. • DOT or be willing to become Decision Driver trained to provide relevant training to your facility CDL operators. • Occupational Health and Safety Act/Regulations. • Conducting continual improvement toward certification and higher degrees of knowledge in the field of safety.
