Our Merchandisers play a pivotal role at Republic National Distributing Company. From sales to delivery, the Merchandiser is the final stop in getting beverages into our customer's hands. After the driver delivers the product to the store, the Merchandisers stock, rotate and merchandise our products so they are ready to sell. This position works closely with our sales team to provide exceptional customer service to assigned accounts. The Merchandising role is an entry-level position in the Wine industry which is the cornerstone to multiple career paths in an evolving category of business.

Summary

RNDC is looking for charismatic Merchandisers to join our growing Sales team. The Merchandiser promotes the Company's products by servicing assigned accounts. Maintains store standards by creating and arranging floor displays, resetting coolers and stocking shelves. 

In this role, you will
  • Place price and descriptive signs on backdrop, fixtures, merchandise, on floor.  
  • Check quantities of goods on display and in stock and services the account to achieve 100% in stock by manually lifting and placing cases or bottles.  
  • Prepare, construct and maintain product displays according to schematics, directions and standards.  
  • Provide customer service as required by customer and consumer demand.  
  • Operate hand trucks and pallet jacks to move cases from store room to sales floor  
  • Have the necessary POS needed for the day on the truck, return unused POS to the warehouse promptly.  
  • Maintain all administrative work in a neat and legible fashion. Copy key personnel on market conditions, refused displays and other customer issues.  
  • Present promotional activities and suggestions to customers as instructed by the company. Survey the account for merchandising opportunities. Have all current sales support sheets available for opportunities to improve Republic's representation in the store.  
  • Consult with store managers, buyers and/or sales representative to determine appropriate placement of displays or products.  
  • Submit daily activity report and merchandising reports. Reports competitive activity and pricing as it occurs to immediate supervisor.  
  • Write sales orders, on occasion, as needed.  
  • Cover open sales territory, as needed and as applicable, due to absence or vacation.  
  • Operate motor vehicle to various assigned accounts within an assigned geographic region.  
  • This position could require the employee to work some nights, some weekends, and/or some holidays. 
What you bring to RNDC

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), preferably one year merchandising experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires a current, valid state driver's license, ability to meet vehicle insurance requirements as defined by the Company and Alcohol Beverage Commission (ABC) License, as required by the state. The employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds and will occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. We are an Equal Opportunity employer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Drive within assigned route to work product from store back stock or delivery loads; aiding sales reps in stocking, handling beverage cases, and working products the company represents.
  • Provide excellent customer service to assigned accounts.
  • Develop and maintain positive, cooperative and team-oriented relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers and others you encounter throughout your job.
  • Fill cold boxes and shelves with appropriate merchandise, and rotate product on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain the back-stock area to allow for a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Organize back stock to ensure accurate order writing for sales.
  • Build displays in stores and maintain POS (point of sale) as necessary.
  • Interact in direct communication with store personnel and salespeople.
  • Accurately clock in and out, adhering to state labor laws.
  • Work with merchandising and sales team members on a continual basis to train, support and evaluate needs.
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with those of the Company's Core Values at all times.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, reliable vehicle, and clean DMV record.
  • Requires the use of your personal vehicle to drive from account to account. You will be reimbursed for business related driving expenses.
  • High School diploma, or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Walk, stand, climb, balance, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl daily.
  • 18+ years of age.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous grocery or retail experience.
  • General knowledge of industry products.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external customers.
