JOB PURPOSE

This is an entry-level/helper position designed for individuals who are eager to build a career in the commercial HVAC industry. You will work directly under the guidance of senior technicians and supervisors, assisting with service calls, preventive maintenance, installations, and troubleshooting on a wide range of commercial HVAC systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist senior technicians with daily service, maintenance, and installation tasks on commercial HVAC equipment.
• Support preventive maintenance on rooftop units, split systems, chillers, and other commercial-grade systems.
• Help with tools, materials, and setup to ensure efficient workflow.
• Learn and apply HVAC trade skills, safety protocols, and company procedures.
• Document work performed, parts used, and observations for technician review.
• Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle, tools, and job site.
• Provide excellent customer service and represent ABC Mechanical with professionalism.
• Follow federal and state laws, as well as established company policies.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• High school diploma/GED, trade school coursework, or equivalent (preferred but not required).
• Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in the HVAC field.
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and grow into a skilled commercial HVAC technician.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs., work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a safety-first mindset.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Such alternatives to the above requirements as the company may find appropriate and acceptable.
• Possible travel required to off-site locations including overnight trips.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with ABC salary and benefit policy. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by ABC Mechanical.

FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY

Job is nonexempt subject to the minimum wage and overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

EVALUATION

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with ABC Mechanical's policy.
