What You Will Do:
Support to the Infection Prevention program/process at ProHealth Care through proactive surveillance, data analysis and dissemination, teaching, and consultation. Lead worker when Infection Prevention Leadership is unavailable. This may include answering infection control practice questions related to the acute care setting, clinical offices, public health, medical staff and the community.
Responsibilities:
• Performs targeted, concurrent, timely surveillance following the NHSN/CDC protocols.
• Ability to analyze data, determine relevance and disseminate as appropriate using the scientific model.
• Above average knowledge and interpretation of microbiology.
• Knowledge of infectious diseases, transmission, prevention, and control.
• Excellent knowledge of cleaning, disinfection, sterilization.
• Excellent knowledge in practice of teaching methods.
• Assist with the review and writing of hospital policies related to infection prevention and control.
• Assist with the development of educational materials related to infection prevention for healthcare workers, patients and families
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives. Participates in workouts related to Hospital Associated Infections.
• Works cooperatively with the Employee Health Department.
• Maintains knowledge of public health requirements and performs timely reporting.
• Knowledge of Bioterrorism agents and emergency preparedness.
• Provide routine reports to the medical and hospital staff on targeted populations and infection control improvements.
• Knowledge of Windows computer, E-mail skill and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of EPIC, Quality Compass and NHSN
• Maintains knowledge base relative to legislative issues i.e. OSHA, CDC, CMS, TJC.
• Participates as a member on the Infection Prevention Committee.
• Participates in other committees as deemed appropriate by the Director.
• Member of APIC required.
What you will need:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Education or experience in data abstraction, assessment, analysis and interventions based on the data.
- Certified in Infection Control (CIC certification) must be obtained within 5 years of hire.
- Prefer - Registered Nurse experienced in Infection Prevention or healthcare professional with experience in clinical microbiology (MT) or equivalent background in science (MLS) related to epidemiology.
