Position Summary: The Patient Care Technician (PCT) delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the PCT assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the PCT's skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. The PCT complies with all hospital policies/procedures and observes the State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel. 

  Position Requirements:  

Licensure/Certification/Registration:  Nursing Assistant Certification, or must have completed first year at an accredited Nursing program which included a medical/surgical rotation from an accredited school. BLS-Healthcare provider.

 

Education:  High school diploma/GED required. Successful completion of yearly competency skills.

 

Experience/ Special Qualifications: 

  • One year hospital experience preferred. 
  • Knowledge of basic clinical practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care. 
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems and good interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong critical thinking skills, leadership skills, and communication skills.   

Degree of Supervision Required:  Involves general guidance and direction by the Patient Care Director, Nurse Manager, Unit Charge Nurse or Staff RN.  Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedure
