Position Summary
PMA is currently seeking a Cost Analyst for an exclusive assignment to work on a portfolio of high-profile utility projects. Our Cost Analyst position is an excellent entrée into project controls and project management. 
The Cost Analyst is responsible for analyzing and managing the costs associated with the client's operations. This role involves reviewing financial data, conducting cost analysis, and providing actionable insights to improve cost efficiency and support operational decision-making. The Cost Analyst will collaborate with various departments to monitor and track operational expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure accurate reporting of cost structures. Key responsibilities include preparing cost reports, analyzing variances, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and contributing to the development of strategies to optimize operational performance. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.   Position Responsibilities

    • Creates, maintains, analyzes, and reports on project costs, risks, and schedules. 
    • Supports project cost management and control functions.  
    • Utilizes cost management software tools with general proficiency.  
    • Understands fundamentals of cost control and budgeting theory and basic characteristics of a sound cost management system.  
    • With assistance re: subject scope, develops summary and detailed level cost estimates, produces a well-organized and complete model that accurately calculates project costs early, late, and planned costs.  
    • Reviews contract documents to gather cost obligations and specifications and applies their requirements to cost deliverables.  
    • Understands the concept of an original baseline, regular updates, and cost revisions.  
    • Gathers and incorporates progress data into a cost update.  
    • With guidance, supports the development of what-if analyses.  
    • Studies cost data to identify trends, and notes anomalies for further review.  
    • Applies target estimates, identifies variances, and pinpoints progress, scope, or financial changes precipitating the change.  
    • Summarizes major themes; collaborates to develop insightful reports that effectively communicate the cost status to cost analysts and non-cost analysts alike.  
    • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is required. 
    • 0-2 Years of experience in some combination of cost control or financial data analysis required. 
    • Experience with financial forecasts and cash flow required. 
    • Ability to perform cost per unit analysis, cost progress reporting, and cost variance reconciliation required. 
    • Cost accounting experience reviewing and processing invoices, accruals, and compliance required.   
    • Demonstrated competency managing financial data with MS Excel required. 
    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills required. 
    • Experience with MS Word and PowerPoint preferred.  
    • Experience with databases and reporting preferred.
