Sr. Litigation Paralegal

Panera is seeking a Sr. Litigation Paralegal to join our Legal department at the Support Center located in Needham, MA.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Support litigation and other adversarial matters in close partnership with internal legal and business teams and outside counsel.

  • Manage and/or support litigation projects (e.g., litigation holds; document collection, review, and production; witness interviews; deposition prep; drafting, e-filing and service of documents; IP searches; etc.).

  • Manage litigation database.

  • Manage project and case deadlines, files, and records; coordinate meetings on responsible matters; assist with organizing departmental meetings.

  • Assist with patent, copyright, and trademark filings and the tracking of the overall portfolio. Assist with gathering materials in support of applications and reviews.

  • Assist with the development, rollout and management of compliance and training initiatives.

  • Manage and/or support other legal department projects (e.g., due diligence; internal investigation; and process improvement) as needed.

  • Maintain legal department files and archives.

  • Establish strong cross-functional working relationships at all levels within the organization to drive a culture of compliance and collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience at a major law firm or in-house legal department.

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferably in business administration, legal studies, communications, or a similar or related discipline), or the equivalent knowledge and experience.

  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to anticipate needs and exercise judgement for resolution.

  • Strong writing skills and the ability to draft complex legal documents.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills, strong initiative, results-orientation, collaborative/team instinct, and can-do attitude.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, fast-moving projects and effectively support outside and in-house legal teams.

  • Experience with litigation technology including eDiscovery and eRooms such as EnCase, Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis, Pacer, Courtlink and LegalTracker.

  • Thorough understanding of litigation lifecycle as well as federal and local filing procedures (electronic and hard copy) and working knowledge of federal, state and local civil procedure rules.

  • Ability to maintain large volumes of documents and data utilizing databases and spreadsheets.

  • Ability to locate and research information applicable to a particular matter, person, regulation, and/or transaction through online research, document review, and due diligence.

  • Ability to identify interrelationships among cases, statutes, regulations, and other legal authorities.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Provide a high level of accuracy, attention to details, excellent proofreading skills and strong organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with MS Office including SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
