Site Overview: "Joseph Brant Hospital is a community hospital serving the City of Burlington and surrounding areas, since 1961. The hospital provides a range of services, including: specialist clinics, medicine, surgery, emergency, maternal/child, mental health and rehabilitation/complex continuing care. In 2018, the hospital completed a redevelopment and expansion project to better serve the growing community."

Position: Security Team Lead
Site: Joseph Brant Hospital, 1245 Lakeshore Rd., Burlington, ON L7S 0A2
Hours: Continental Rotation (0730-1930/1930-0730hrs)
Pay Rate: $21.18/hr. - $22.40/hr. "based on the levelling system"
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides leadership, direction, and ongoing coaching and training
  • Ensures all standing orders and scheduled daily activities are carried out as required for each shift
  • Ensures site staff adhere to all Paladin Security and site-specific security policies and procedures
  • Plans and implements shift work schedules
  • Ensures all Security Guards have received the mandatory training
  • Motivates staff and issues commendations
  • Coach and manage team performance, issuing corrective actions when necessary, and ensure all performance-related documentation is sent to the Client Service Manager
  • Attendance Management
  • Performs security audits
  • Documents and investigates security incidents and complaints
  • Provide proactive and reactive security patrols.
  • Communicates any concerns/issues with Client Service Manager

Requirements:

  • A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
  • A Valid Standard First AID CPR C Certificate (From a WSIB Approved Organization)
  • Proof of up to date immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step Tuberculosis skin test
  • Covid Vaccine two doses
  • Must be willing to complete N95 Mask fit testing during the training
  • Vulnerable Sector Check
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • At least one year of security experience in a team lead role
  • Minimum two year of security experience in healthcare environment
  • Post-Secondary education in a law enforcement/security program from a recognized college
  • Working knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act and Mental Health Act
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact and diplomacy
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada 
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability.
