Job Overview:
As the Regional Manager, People & Culture, you will serve as a key leader in our organization's People and Culture department. This role combines leadership accountabilities with strategic operational talent acquisition, training and deployment responsibilities and broader Human Resources responsibilities, ensuring that Paladin attracts, develops, and retains top talent while also overseeing various HR functions. Reporting to the Director, People and Culture, you will collaborate with department heads to align HR initiatives with the Paladin's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage regional people and culture team, by developing and maintaining effective work structure and processes; ensuring comprehensive training, coaching, and development of all team members
- Maintain knowledge and proficiency in recruiting and development techniques, workforce planning, employment law, provincial regulations and requirements, and HR best practices;
Recruitment and Selection
- Develop and implement a proactive, comprehensive recruitment strategies that align with the organization's goals and staffing needs while maintaining a positive corporate culture
- Maintain knowledge and proficiency in recruiting and development techniques, workforce planning, employment law, provincial regulations and requirements, and HR best practices; attends relevant workshops and networking events regularly.
- Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires as required. Provides metrics and regular quality KPI reporting to support company objectives, identify areas of improvement and set action plans into place.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of employer branding initiatives to position the organization as an employer of choice.
Performance Management
- Define consistent data-driven metrics and goals for the People and Culture team
- Advise on complex human resource topics such as progressive discipline, investigations, terminations, performance management, workers' compensation, and benefits.
- Work with the training coordinators to ensure the best possible training outcomes
- Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure successful implementation of HR Metrics is achieved according to individual departmental needs and goals
- Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates
Employee Care and Retention
- Support employees and managers through all WCB claims
- Effectively balance employee and company interests to manage risks and create a positive employee relations environment
- Analyze exit interviews insights, assemble relevant data into monthly reports and recommend changes in employee relations to the Director of People and Culture
- Lead DEI initiatives to promote diversity and inclusivity within the organization.
Company Brand and Culture
- Oversee the orientation process for all new employees by establishing a strong and informative orientation.
- Administer the Employee Recognition program
- In close partnership with the senior leadership team, continue to strengthen a high-performance culture through effective organizational design, employee and leadership development and HR practices
Compliance and Legal
- Work in conjunction with the Director of People and Culture to review and investigate all Employment Standards and Human Rights claims and represent the company's interests in all claim processes
- Proactively identify changes to legislation affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are up to date and compliant with all governing bodies in the province of Alberta
- Ensure company policies are communicated, applied, and enforced
- Oversee active and historical employee files by ensuring all relevant employee documentation is accounted for, updated and filed in each employee personnel file
- Ensures all statutory requirements are met. Including licensing, training, WCB, Human Rights, and Employment Standards

Functional Skill and Ability Requirements:
- Results driven with a desire to work in a fast-paced environment; equally adept at providing leadership as well as working side by side with the team while delivering on multiple concurrent initiatives that have significant financial impact
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proven ability to embrace change and adversity in a rapidly growing and changing environment; previous experience in managing and driving change efforts is preferred
- Models customer focused approach in all decisions and actions; able to assert own ideas, persuade others and negotiate effectively
- Demonstrates a high level of discret
High School Diploma/GED
1-3 Years experience in Human Resources / Occupational Health and Safety or Equivalent
CPHR considered an asset
