About this Position

The Social Media and Digital Content Manager has primary responsibility for overseeing OSU-OKC's social media accounts, producing multimedia content, and managing digital marketing strategy. This role will work with and collaborate closely with the OSU social/digital leadership and team. 

The Social Media and Digital Content Manager will oversee and manage OSU-OKC's social media accounts while producing content across multiple channels for multiple audiences to support the institution's enrollment and recruiting efforts. This will include video filming and editing, social media management, content planning, photography and multimedia production to create content that supports enrollment growth and enhances OSU-OKC's reputation and brand awareness among key target audiences. 

The individual should be highly organized, creative, and technically proficient with the ability to manage multiple projects and editorial calendars. These efforts align with OSU-OKC's strategic marketing and communications plan which prioritizes recruitment, retention and reputation management.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, Multimedia, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, English, or related field required. (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • 2-3 years of experience in social media content creation and management.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Applicable internship or substantial class projects will be considered as experience

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Technical Skills: High-level proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator). Experience with video editing specifically for social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts)
  • Social Media Expertise: Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts for brands or organizations. Knowledge of social media analytics, content optimization, and platform-specific best practices
  • Multimedia Production: Strong video filming, editing, and photography skills. Experience with lighting, audio editing, and post-production techniques
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to adapt writing style for different audiences and platforms. Proficiency in AP style
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work independently. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of web publishing techniques, SEO optimization, and content management systems
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work diplomatically and effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners
  • Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in relevant field
    • 3+ years of experience in social media management and content creation
    • Experience with live streaming and event coverage
    • Background in higher education marketing or communications

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Experience with social media management tools (Sprout Social, Hootsuite, etc.)
  • Knowledge of emerging social media platforms and trends
  • Experience in video production and photography for social media platforms

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Manage social media strategy and optimization, including SEO optimization, social media analytics, content calendar development, and audience engagement. Utilize social media management tools and analyze performance metrics to inform future content strategies. Maintain knowledge of current social media trends and best practices.
  2. Produce stylized visuals and compelling content for OSU-OKC's social media and digital platforms, including video production, photography, videography, graphic design, and multimedia presentations. Create content optimized for various platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other emerging platforms. Attend events that warrant promotion via social media and provide live social media coverage.
  3. Support OSU-OKC's overall retention and enrollment goals by collaborating on recruitment campaigns, providing supporting content for student communication efforts, and creating materials that showcase academic programs and campus life. Work within established project management systems to ensure content and projects meet deadlines and expectations.
  4. Assist in building an environment of collaboration and teamwork across the team and across multiple departments and campus stakeholders. Proactively identify opportunities that showcase OSU-OKC's points of distinction, programs, people and resources. Other duties as assigned.
  5. Set up, capture, and produce live, web-streamed video presentations
  6. Maintain and exhibit high skill level in digital media software programs
  7. Coordinate with internal staff, external departments, and vendors for multimedia projects
  8. Research and develop content that supports institutional goals
  9. Track, test, and implement new social media technologies and trends
  10. Work effectively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  11. Completes all mandatory training and participates in a minimum of two professional development each year.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work flexible hours to include some nights and weekends.
  • Work will be performed in an office environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone, via email, and various communication platforms.
  • Regular attendance at campus events and community outreach activities.
  • Some travel required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Duties require extended periods of sitting, talking, listening and detailed work.
  • Duties require extensive use of computers, telephones, and other office equipment.
  • Requires possible lifting of up to 25 lbs. (If an object weights more than 45 lbs., OSU-Oklahoma City requires this to be a two-person lift).
  • Manual dexterity for equipment handling and technical setup.
  • Visual acuity for detailed editing and design work.
