Summary:

Calculate, verify, process and reconcile financial transactions related to Accounts Receivable and Fixed Assets. Ensure accuracy and completeness of all transactions according to established accounting rules and regulations.


Responsibilities:

* Establish a working knowledge of the Accounting financial system software including, but not limited to: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Purchase Management, Fixed Assets, Intra-tribal and Grant Tracking Software
* Verify financial information is complete, accurate, and in compliance for various accounting transactions including accounts receivable, cash receipts, travel, fixed assets, intra-tribal sales/purchases, purchase order releases, and stand- alone systems according to federal, state, and tribal accounting policy and procedures.
* Perform general accounting processes to prepare financial documents, records, and reports; prepares bank deposits; completes sub-system closing.
* Adhere to deadlines for month and year-end closing for financial and management reporting.
* Enter purchase order releases, receiving and requisitions in the financial software system.
* Provide quality services to both internal and external customers by furnishing accurate information, researching, and resolving issues, and providing other assistance as requested on a timely basis.
* Provide excellent customer service at all times to include but not limited to, addressing customer and employee needs courteously and promptly
* Follow Standard Operating Procedures and provide improvements to management as needed.
* Participate in cross functional teams and activities to identify process and department improvement opportunities, evaluates alternatives, and implements solutions.
* Collaboratively participate in staff meetings and cross train within different areas.
* Provide assistance with special projects.
* Assist in implementing and testing upgrades to the financial system and accounting software.
* Prepare and distribute reports to business units, management, and outside agencies as needed.

* Operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment

* Preparing, reviewing, and analyzing operational and financial reports
* Learn internal department organization, functions, objectives, policies, and procedures
* Working knowledge of accounting concepts and computerized financial systems
* Ability to become proficient in Tribal Accounting processes and systems
* Must possess excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan, organize and prioritize effectively
* Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and adhere to the Nation Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.

A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or a 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment.

Must provide a copy of diploma/degree, license, or certification upon employment.
