Description
At NorthBay Health, The Vice President of Urgent Care and Occupational Health provides strategic leadership and oversight of NorthBay's Urgent Care and Occupational Health service lines. In partnership with Ambulatory Operations and Medical Directors, this leader drives growth, access, and clinical excellence while ensuring alignment with NorthBay's mission, vision, and values.
The position also involves Works in a dyad relationship with the Ambulatory operations team to provide clinical direction and to ensure performance accountability of the Urgent Care and Occupational Health Clinics (“Clinics”). Drives the culture of NorthBay (mission, vision, and values), internal organization relationships and overall performance of the Clinics. Will work in a leadership capacity to interface and maintain effective relationship with all departments and staff in a team-oriented environment including performance of non-clinical and clinical professionals, quality assurance, worksite behaviors, productivity and clinical protocols, regulatory compliance, overseeing patient care standards, and referring physician relations.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategic Growth & Market Development
- Lead the development and execution of a long-term strategy to expand urgent care and occupational health services in alignment with community needs and organizational priorities.
- Evaluate market trends, patient demand, and employer partnerships to identify opportunities for growth and new service offerings.
- Build and maintain relationships with regional employers and community partners to strengthen occupational health programs and referral networks.
2. Access & Patient Experience
- Ensure timely, convenient access to urgent care services by optimizing hours, staffing models, and locations.
- Drive initiatives that enhance the patient experience, reduce wait times, and improve care coordination with the ED, primary care, and specialty services.
- Develop innovative access strategies, including virtual care, to meet evolving patient and employer needs.
3. Quality & Clinical Excellence
- Partner with Medical Directors to establish evidence-based care protocols and clinical standards across urgent care and occupational health.
- Lead ongoing quality assurance and improvement efforts, with regular monitoring of outcomes, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as an executive sponsor for performance improvement initiatives and system-wide alignment of urgent and occupational care practices.
4. Talent & Workforce Development
- Oversee provider and staff recruitment, retention, and professional development for urgent care and occupational health teams.
- Create a culture of accountability, engagement, and teamwork through coaching, evaluation, and leadership development.
- Ensure staffing models are sustainable, efficient, and designed to meet patient demand and access goals.
5. Operational & Financial Stewardship
- In dyad partnership with Ambulatory Operations, ensure operational and financial performance of clinics, balancing quality, access, and fiscal responsibility.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including patient volumes, employer contracts, provider productivity, and patient outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement in efficiency and cost-effectiveness without compromising quality or patient safety.
6. Organizational Leadership & Collaboration.
- Serve as a visible and collaborative leader across NorthBay, representing urgent care and occupational health in system-level planning, strategic initiatives, and leadership councils.
- Strengthen partnerships with the ED, primary care, and specialty services to ensure seamless patient transitions and system-wide integration.
- Represent NorthBay in community forums and with employer partners to reinforce the organization's commitment to high-quality, accessible care.
Qualifications
Education: Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
Licensure/Certification: MD license required. Board certification in a relevant specialty.
Experience: Previous experience in a leadership role within a healthcare organization, preferably in program development or medical directorship. Previous experience demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage relationships in professional circumstances, including leadership skills, conflict management and resolution, and teambuilding skills, etc.
Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners. Knowledge of NorthBay policies and procedures.

Compensation: $300k annually.
