Description

At NorthBay Health, the Executive Director of Philanthropy provides strategic leadership and comprehensive oversight of all fundraising activities for the NorthBay Health Foundation. This role is responsible for advancing a robust philanthropy program, including annual, major and planned giving, foundation operations, and support of the NorthBay Health Foundation Board.

The Executive Director partners closely with senior leadership to align philanthropic strategy with organizational priorities. This position requires exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, a deep understanding of diverse fundraising strategies, and the highest level of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential matters.

Primary Job Duties

  • Provides strategic leadership to advance NorthBay Health's philanthropic mission and impact. 
  • Develops and executes comprehensive goals, objectives, and strategies for the philanthropy program. 
  • Serves as the primary staff liaison to the Foundation Board and philanthropy-related committees. 
  • Partners with senior leadership to recruit, engage, and support the development of Foundation Board members. 
  • Collaborates with senior leadership, board members, physicians, service line leaders, and community stakeholders to secure philanthropic support that aligns organizational priorities with donor intent. 
  • Designs and implements integrated fundraising strategies to secure annual, major, and planned gifts. 
  • Establishes performance metrics and accountability systems to evaluate fundraising effectiveness and measure impact. 
  • Partners with Marketing and Communications to strengthen and maintain internal and external brand and visibility in all philanthropy related media, collateral and events. 
  • Fosters a high-performing, collaborative team culture that emphasizes accountability, professional development, and engagement. 
  • Oversee the division's annual budget, financial planning, and fiscal management. 
  • Serves as a lead fundraiser, actively managing a portfolio of key donors and prospects. 
  • Provides oversight of donor acquisition and stewardship strategies, including recognition programs.
  • Monitors the appropriate release and use of donated funds in keeping with the Foundation Board's policies, donor intent and non-profit regulations.
  • Ensure that all donor records and files are maintained, kept confidential and are protected on paper and/or in a donor database. 


Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree required.  Master's preferred.

License/ Certifications: Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) or other fundraising certification preferred.

Experience: A minimum of eight years of leadership experience in successful non-profit fundraising, preferably in healthcare or academic environments.

Hours of Work: Exempt management position.

Compensation: $187K to $197K based on years of experience doing the duties of the role.
