Description

At NorthBay Health, the Director of Hospital IT EPIC Applications is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational management, and performance of Epic applications and other clinical systems used across the NorthBay Health hospitals. This includes overseeing the planning, implementation, optimization, and support of Epic modules (e.g., EpicCare Inpatient, Grand Central, Optime, Cupid, ASAP, and others) and other centrally supported clinical systems to ensure alignment with clinical and business objectives. Leading a team of system analysts and managing vendor relationships, this individual is responsible for the day-to-day operations and oversight of a portfolio of applications used 24x7, 365 days. 

The Director of Hospital IT Applications is a key liaison between technical teams, clinical leaders, and executive leadership to enhance care delivery, improve user experience, and maximize the value of our clinical applications. He/She will build and nurture effective relationships with physician leadership, nursing leadership and others to ensure open communication, collaboration, and long-term success. This position will serve as a trusted point of contact, proactively addressing needs and resolving concerns to strengthen trust and engagement.

The Director of Hospital IT Applications is responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects related to the implementation, upgrade, and optimization of electronic health record (EHR) and other systems. This includes coordinating internal resources and third-party vendors, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget, and effectively managing stakeholders and communications. 

The Director of Hospital IT Applications will work with IT leadership in the development of standards, annual budgets, strategic goals, resource plans, and operational performance reporting. This position hires staff, monitors staff performance, promotes professional development, and conducts the employees' annual performance appraisals.

Qualifications

  1. Education:  Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration or a related field or equivalent eight years combination of education and experience.
  2. Licensure/Certification: Epic Project Certification required within 6 months. Other current Epic certifications and PMP certification strongly preferred.
  3. Experience:  EPIC experience  preferred. Minimum of five years of experience in an I.T. management position and ten years of experience in an I. T. applications or systems administration role. 
  4. Skills:  Project management skills related to implementing hospital systems applications. In depth knowledge of hospital operations, clinical workflows and information systems.
  5.  Interpersonal Skills:  Demonstrates the True North values.   6. Hours of Work:  Normally works an eight-hour day.  Hours will vary according to work demands. 
  7. Compensation: $190K to $230K based on years of experience doing the specific duties of the role. Eligible for annual VCP Bonus
