Description

At NorthBay Health the Clinical Systems Instructor provides instructor and performance support. Assists with curricular development, delivers training, and monitors and improves performance on the job. Supports department-based systems trainers and resource staff. The Clinical Systems Instructor is a valuable member of the Learning and Leadership Development Team within Human Resources at NorthBay Health.

Because of the program-based nature of job assignments, on-call availability requirements apply to periods greater than two weeks. Assignments are typically negotiated and documented at the beginning of the evaluation year, and re-evaluated on a continuous basis.

Primary Job Duties: 

  1. Coordinates the application submission to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) for approval of monthly CDPH approved educational programs for Certified Nursing Assistants. 
  2. Plans monthly class calendar hours for continued education (CE) for certification renewal.
  3. Trains assigned electronic health record applications to high learner satisfaction and job performance. Trains established non-EHR curricula, as assigned and competent.
  4. Supports the learning and performance of all department-based EHR trainers and resource staff, including but not limited to the delivery of Train-the-Trainer instruction for assigned clinical systems.
  5. Monitors and coaches on-the-job performance. Recommends, implements, and evaluates interventions to insure competency, build staff confidence and leadership, promote workflow efficiencies, remove obstacles to strong performance.
  6. Documents and reports Kirkpatrick Level I-IV outcomes as appropriate, including costing and resource allocation data sufficient to support variance reporting, budget forecasting.
  7. Models the NorthBay Way, demonstrates alignment with regulatory and strategic directives, demonstrates compliance with System standards in all circumstances. 
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree required, strongly preferable in Nursing or healthcare, preferable in Education, Information Technology (IT), or Human Resources (HR). 
  • College-level coursework in adult learning and instructional design is strongly preferred. 

Experience: 

  • Three years IT, clinical, and/or equivalent training experience required.  
  • Experience using medical terminology and knowledge of patient care workflows required. 

Skills: 

  • Excellent classroom and one-on-one training skills are required.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills required.
  • Intermediate proficiency in word processing and database applications required to support project work. Experience with spreadsheet, presentation, and project management applications is strongly preferred. 
  • Instructional design skills are strongly preferred.
  • Must demonstrate the highest discipline regarding confidentiality.
  • Must demonstrate high attention to detail and accuracy.  Ability to manage multiple projects in a busy office environment is essential.
  • Requires a high level of comfort with taking initiative and being accountable for teamwork and service excellence.

Hours of Work: 

  • Services are generally delivered between Monday through Friday, 0730-1730.
  • Requires occasional off-site, off-hour work to support pre-planned education and monitoring activities.

Compensation: 

  • Hourly Salary Range $36.65-$44.53 (Offered hourly rate based on years of experience)
  • 10% differential available to external and internal applicants with On Call status.
