Primary Purpose:
Ensures freight claims are processed in a prompt and equitable manner. In addition, identifies damage trends to address damage at root cause.

 

Principal Duties:

  • Process claims timely and in accordance with NS Conditions of Carriage, NS Intermodal Circular, tariffs, contracts, AAR Freight Claim Rules, laws, partner tariffs, and other claim guidelines.
  • The ability to work independently under pressure with a high-volume workload.
  • Respond professionally to demanding situations, including customer dissatisfaction.
  • Represent Freight Claims during commodity specific conference calls, customer visits, and virtual meetings.
  • Data retrieval and analysis, including identifying and escalating claim patterns and other areas of concern to appropriate business group to determine best business solution, damage prevention and repetitive claims.
  • Perform audits based on internal and external review requests.
  • Assists in the management of systems, documenting salvage process, foreign line  inquiries, customer inquiries, scanning/indexing documents, claim investigation and monthly ILS Freight Claim debit review.
  • Collaborate with claimants and IT support to resolve system issues. 
  • Participate in system(s) testing and development when applicable.
