Marubeni-Itochu Steel America (MISA) is part of a global team trading in a wide range of steel products. The MISA team is currently seeking a Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager with strong firsthand corporate tax experience in our New York Headquarters office. Reporting directly to the Tax Director, this role will be responsible for overseeing tax provision, compliance, reporting, and tax planning activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the corporate accounting team, as well as domestic and international subsidiaries and affiliates, to support the company's overall tax strategy and ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Income Tax:
- Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provisions, including monthly tax entries, account reconciliations, and related tax accounting and reporting.
- Coordinate the filing of quarterly estimated tax payments and extensions.
- Coordinate with external auditors and/or support tax audits by responding to data requests, gathering supporting documentation, and addressing notices from state and local tax authorities.
- Prepare supporting documents and work papers related to transfer pricing documentation.
- Collaborate with subsidiaries and affiliates to ensure accurate and timely tax compliance.
- Research and respond to internal stakeholder inquiries on tax related matters.
- Monitor, analyze and provide recommendations related to the internal control structure of the company.
- Monitor MISA's activities for tax compliance and implications and provide appropriate recommendations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Indirect Tax:
- Manage the preparation and filing of sales & use, annual reports and personal property tax returns for multiple jurisdictions via coordination with branch accountants to ensure proper data collection and reconciliation.
- Research and provide guidance to the various branches as it is related to business transactions and all applicable tax implications.
- Lead and/or assist with ad hoc tax projects and assignments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
5-7+ years of firsthand corporate income tax experience, favorable if experienced with consolidated US group with multiple subsidiaries. Experience with corporate tax compliance and have familiarity with income tax workpapers (understanding the basic income tax calculation concept). Professional accounting designation is desirable. Solid technical, interpersonal, and analytical skills are required. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including strong Excel modeling skills and efficient spreadsheet management. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven track record of collaborating effectively with management and accounting teams. Strong initiative-taking and strategic approach on tax matters. Adaptability to changing priorities and evolving business needs. Collaborative and eager to contribute to both operational and strategic tax initiatives.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting and 5+ years of relevant tax experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

PAY RANGE:
Tax Manager: $135,000-$140,000 annualized base salary
Senior Tax Manager: $140,000-$145,000 annualized base salary
