Overview:

Are you looking for a specialty educator position in an adult level trauma center? Mercy St louis is currently looking for an energetic and outgoing nurse to serve as a Trauma Education/Injury Prevention Coordinator within the Trauma and Acute Care Services Department of Mercy Hospital St Louis.

 

The Trauma Education/Injury Prevention Coordinator role is to provide instruction in Trauma Core Nurse Curriculum courses, assist with Advanced Trauma Life Support courses, provide unit level trauma education, discuss different topics in ICU nurse orientation, planning and organizing trauma conferences. Injury Prevention duties will include, providing fall prevention classes to the elderly population, teaching safe driving courses, teaching “Stop the Bleed” classes, planning and coordinating annual safety fair, promoting injury prevention information in local health fairs and high school blood drives. Will be responsible in maintain good relationships between hospital departments that care for trauma patients, trauma clinic management, local EMS agencies, local public health contacts other injury prevention departments withing St Louis and developing a Trauma Survivors program.

 

This position primary works Monday – Friday with occasional weekend/evenings if supporting a health fair or educational opportunity. This position reports directly to the Mercy Trauma Program Manager.

 

Qualifications:

Education: BSN required, MSN preferred 

Licensure: RN license in the State of MO.

Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in trauma nursing and staff education required. Past experience must have demonstrated good interpersonal skills, teaching ability and the ability to apply sound principles of management to educational program execution.

Certifications: BLS and TNCC required, other certifications as determined by department.

Other: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office required.

Preferred Certifications: Trauma certification, ACLS, CEN or CCRN preferred.
