Under direct supervision, this position will engage in entry-level legal activities including, but not limited to items such as basic document review and editing, creation of documents using templates, performance of legal research, preparation of legal memoranda, summaries, charts or other deliverables, assisting in obtaining, reviewing, preparing and/or tracking due diligence information and documents and transaction exhibit information and documents, and attendance at legal education seminars and subsequent report-out. Functional areas include a broad range of legal areas affecting Mercy's services and operations such as antitrust, tax, employment law, corporate governance, physician practice acquisitions; hospital operational support; health care risk management; clinical-related issues; regulatory compliance; medical staff and accreditation; clinical affiliation agreements; managed care contracting; real estate and construction; and health care reform and reimbursement.
The clients of a Staff Attorney will generally be more senior attorneys. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy's mission, values and service standards. Position Details:
Education: Doctorate of Jurisprudence.
Licensure: Membership in the applicable state of practice Bar or eligibility for immediate admission.
Experience: Zero to three years experience as a practicing attorney.
Other Skills & Knowlege: Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Experience: Education or experience in the health care industry or specialized experience in one of more of the following areas: antitrust, tax, employment law, physician practice acquisitions; hospital operational support; health care risk management; clinical-related issues; regulatory compliance; medical staff and accreditation; clinical affiliation agreements; managed care contracting; real estate and construction; or health care reform and reimbursement.
