Overview:

The Hyperbaric Tech, under the direction of the Program Director, Medical Director and Clinical Coordinator of the Hyperbaric Medicine Department, administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician. Performs duties under supervision of the Program Director, Medical Director and Clinical Coordinator as is appropriate for the facility. Is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems. Is responsible for the safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the hyperbaric patient. Is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems. Is responsible for the day-today maintenance on the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems.


Qualifications:

  • Required Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or Certificate equivalent.
  • Certifications: Wound Care Center chamber operators must be actively certified or licensed in one of the following vocations to meet the minimum education and experience requirements:
    • 1 year experience in one of these fields-Respiratory Therapist Corpsman (Military) Medical Services Specialist Nurse Practitioner EMT-Basic or Paramedic Registered Nurse, LPN, or LVN Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA) Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) Physical Therapist Physical Therapy Assistant
    • Additionally, each chamber operator attends, or provides verification of attendance to, an Introductory Hyperbaric Training Course as approved by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT).
  • Other: Strong computer skills in Microsoft products and ability to learn computer software quickly. Also, working with insurance companies in obtaining referrals/authorizations/eligibility and benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
•    High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
•    1 year of experience in one of the following fields: Respiratory Therapist, Corpsman (Military)Medical Services, Specialist Nurse Practitioner, EMT-Basic, Paramedic, Registered Nurse, LPN, LVN Certified, Registered Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA), Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT), Physical Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant
Licensure/Certification(s):
•    Wound Care Center chamber operators must be actively certified or licensed in one of the following:
o    Respiratory Therapist
o    Corpsman Medical Services Specialist (Military)
o    NP (Nurse Practitioner)
o    EMT-Basic (Emergency Medical Technician) 
o    Paramedic
o    RN (Registered Nurse)
o    LPN (Licensed practical Nurse)
o    LVN Certified (Licensed Vocational Nurse)
o    Registered Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA)
o    Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT)
o    Physical Therapist
o    Physical Therapy Assistant

Preferred Qualifications:
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

Physical Requirements: 
•    Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis. 
•    Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
•    Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
