Responsible for all phases of authorization and pre-certification of managed care patients. Provides updates to patients/offices regarding authorization status. Utilizes medical knowledge when responding to payer queries. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values , and Mercy service standards.
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
- Experience: At least one year experience in medical clinic setting.
- Other: Knowledge of CPT, HCPCs and ICD-9 Coding. Knowledge of medical terminology. Thorough understanding of regulations and standards within the insurance industry. Ability to organize work priorities and meet specific objectives under time constraints. Above average computer skills. Highly detail-oriented, with strong oral and written skills.
