Overview:

 

Mercy's Patient Care Associates are the vital link between our patients and the care team.

 

Our patient care associates (PCA) preserve the dignity of our patients while helping to care for their basic needs (bathing, feeding, toileting etc.).  These energetic, compassionate coworkers make a positive and uplifting contribution to the lives of their patients, visitors and coworkers.  PCAs play a critical role in patient care by recording vitals and daily information.  They are a versatile member of the care team, providing not only clinical support but also a comforting presence, to help achieve the patient's highest level of wellness.


Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma, G.E.D. and/or current employee at Mercy Hospital, Washington.
    Licensure:
  • Experience: Previous medical experience as nurse's aide, CNA, medical assistance or EMT, completed the first semester clinical rotation in nursing school.
  • Certifications: BLS
  • Other: The physical demands described here are the representative of the minimums that must be met by an employee to perform all essential functions of the job. Most physical demands are below, plus: Minimal: carrying <12 lbs (1 handed) and <25 lbs (2 handed), pull <40 lbs, kneel or crouch, pinch force, data entry Occasional: lifting desk to chair height <50 lbs, push <20 lbs, Frequent: balance, hand coordination, grip <45 lbs force
