Find your calling at Mercy! The Executive Director-Senior Counsel provides strategic legal counsel across multiple functional areas, serves as a trusted advisor, and leads complex projects. This particular role will focus on supporting Mercy's healthcare operations, including medical staff and regulatory compliance support. Skills desired include the following:
- Medical Staff and Credentialing: Advises on medical staff bylaws, credentialing, privileging, peer review, and professional practice issues. Supports leadership and committees on governance and compliance related to physicians, APPs, and other licensed practitioners.
- Hospital and Clinic Regulatory Oversight: Provides guidance on federal, state, and local healthcare regulations affecting hospital and clinic operations, including licensing, accreditation, quality, and safety requirements.
- Patient Care and Front-Line Operational Support: Advises on legal issues impacting patient care and clinical operations, including care delivery processes, clinical risk, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Privacy and Data Security: Strong expertise in patient privacy and data protection laws, including HIPAA, ensuring compliance in clinical, operational, and digital health settings.
- Regulatory Strategy and Risk Management: Identifies operational and compliance risks, provides proactive guidance, and helps implement policies and processes to mitigate risk while supporting innovation and integrated care delivery.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works closely with medical staff leadership, compliance, clinical operations, quality, and executive teams to align legal guidance with operational objectives and regulatory requirements.
