Does not supervise. Is required to perform job duties with a minimal supervision. Able to make independent decisions when necessary. Limitations: 1) Does not take verbal or telephone orders from doctors; 2) Does not initiate, terminate or regulate IV therapy; and 3) Does not administer medications. Will perform all work in accord to the mission, vision and values or Mercy Health Center.
Education: High School Diploma or GED certificate. Patient care experience required. BLS-C Training required. Nursing Students or EMT students preferred. Must have good oral communication skills both in person and over the phone to greet people and take messages and make arrangements. Medical terminology knowledge preferred. Must be able to stand or walk the majority of the shift. Able to push patients weighing up to 250 lbs. In a wheelchair or carrier. Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Frequently bends and lifts during shift. Must complete ER Tech orientation and MHC orientation. Must be able to type and operate a computer.
Certifications: BLS required.
