OverviewThe Director of Hospital Pharmacy is responsible for leading, planning, and directing all operational, clinical, and administrative activities within the assigned pharmacy department. This leader ensures compliance with pharmacy practice standards and consistently upholds the highest level of patient care across all areas of responsibility. All work is performed in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Mercy Hospital Southeast.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic and day‑to‑day leadership for all Pharmacy Department personnel.
- Establish departmental goals, manage operations, and ensure efficient workflow.
- Make operational decisions and act independently when clear guidelines are not available.
- Ensure standards of pharmacy practice, safety, quality control, and regulatory compliance are met across all service areas.
- Direct the development, implementation, and promotion of new pharmacy programs and services.
- Oversee departmental budgeting, staffing, performance management, and training needs.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and support collaboration across clinical and operational stakeholders.
- Prepare clear, concise reports, proposals, and presentations for leaders and stakeholders.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required.
- Licensure: Active pharmacist license in the state of practice.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Effective written communication skills for reports and proposals.
- Ability to design and deliver professional presentations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple departments or complex operational units.
- Skills in budgeting, data analysis, and understanding data processing workflows.
- Ability to effectively counsel staff and manage conflict.
- Experience developing quality control procedures, leading multidisciplinary teams, and guiding program development.
- Education: Master's degree in Pharmacy, Health Administration, or Business Administration.
- Experience: Five years of demonstrated leadership experience at the Director level.

- Strong presentation, planning, and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify training needs and support staff development.
- Experience overseeing the design, implementation, and assessment of new programs and service
