Overview:
Coordinate Antimicrobial Stewardship at Mercy Hospital South.  Responsible for all aspects of promoting and managing drug therapy based on expert knowledge in the area of Antimicrobial Pharmacotherapy.  Coordinate with the Infectious Disease department, as well as other services, in promoting appropriate use of antimicrobials with the goal of enhancing patient health outcomes while minimizing adverse events, reducing antimicrobial resistance, and decreasing unnecessary costs.  Responsible for maintaining the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, acting as a liaison between Pharmacy Services, Medical Service and Nursing Services, as well as providing education to all health care professionals.  Serve as co-chair and facilitate meetings for Antimicrobial Stewardship Subcommittee, which is an advisory committee that reports to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.  Serve and participate on the system Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee.    

 

Perform all the functions of the Clinical Pharmacist Specialist as assigned. Responsible for monitoring and assisting in the management of drug use in targeted patient populations. Provides drug information services and adverse event monitoring as required for the Health System. Serves as a mentor to staff and clinical staff pharmacists in regards to clinical judgment and clinical practices. This responsibility encompasses inpatient, managed care outpatient, and long-term segments of care delivery. Ensures compliance with rules and regulations that pertain to the targeted populations. Maintain/enhance pharmacotherapeutic skills through the reading of primary literature, national guidelines and/or medical references. Performs related duties as assigned.

Clinical Coordinator coordinates preceptors, students and residence. Performs related duties as assigned.

 


Qualifications:

  • Required Education: Doctor of Pharmacy with completion of PGY1 residency preferred; PGY2 residency or fellowship in Infectious Disease preferred.
  • Licensure: Missouri Pharmacist licensure required. 
  • Experience: Strong clinical practice experience in Infectious Disease preferred.
  • Certifications: Certified for Medication Therapy Services in Missouri; BPS Board Certified Infectious Diseases Pharmacist (BCIDP) preferred.
  • Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Commensurate with advanced clinical pharmacy degree training. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
