The Charge Nurse is responsible for professional nursing care for patients and their families by direction, leadership and example. Leads and directs Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Unit Secretaries, Nurse Externs and other assigned staff. Responsible for operation of the Med/Surg Unit on a shift by shift basis ensuring that all regulatory requirements and standards are being fulfilled. Participates in the education and development of Med/Surg personnel and performance evaluation input as well as other administration duties as designated by the Clinical Nurse Manager of the unit. Must have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, be dedicated to the provision of quality patient care and use sound judgement in decision making.

  • Education: Associates or bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college
    Licensure: Registered Nurse in Arkansas
    Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
    Other: Good computer knowledge. Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community. Advanced clinical skills, including such things as problem solving skills, patient assessment, equipment usage, etc. Ability to exemplify Mercy Service Standards as they lead and direct patient care.
