Overview

Under the general supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist and according to standards of treatment, assists with objective assessments as well as comprehensive individualized treatment programs for patients of all age ranges, according to departmental policies and procedures. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

• Assist with initial assessment on each patient upon receiving direction from O.T.R./L. and according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Document the course of patient care, including progress notes and the continuing need for treatment according to departmental policy.
• Administer appropriate modalities, exercise regimens, or treatment procedures according to departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Maintain progress notes and departmental records on each patient according to departmental policies regarding documentation and charges.
• Participate in promoting education within the department.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the special needs and behaviors of specific age groups, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Perform miscellaneous job duties as directed by the Inpatient Physical Medicine Supervisor.

Qualifications

Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

Licensure: Current license as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant or eligibility for licensure in the state of practice.

Experience: One year of experience preferred; new graduates will also be considered.

Certifications: BLS certification required. Required certifications must be current before being assigned to care for patients independently.
