Mercy is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable AP Lab Assistant (Part-Time) to support our Anatomic Pathology team. In this role, you will assist with specimen processing, inventory management, equipment maintenance, data entry, and quality improvement activities while ensuring compliance with laboratory safety standards and regulatory requirements. This position plays an important role in supporting quality patient care and delivering exceptional service consistent with Mercy's mission and values.
Key Responsibilities- Perform computer functions and maintain accurate laboratory records.
- Process, receive, and manage patient specimens according to established procedures.
- Ensure proper patient identification and specimen integrity.
- Maintain department inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment within established guidelines.
- Complete record-keeping and documentation tasks accurately and timely.
- Support quality improvement (QI) initiatives and departmental goals.
- Adhere to all laboratory safety standards, infection prevention practices, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate professionalism and provide service consistent with Mercy's Mission, Values, and Mercy Service Standards.
- Collaborate effectively with laboratory staff and other healthcare team members.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- No prior experience required.

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and quality service.
- Previous laboratory experience.
- Computer/data entry experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Familiarity with laboratory workflows and specimen handling procedures.
