Position: Advanced Cardiovascular Technician (EKG/EEG Technician)

Department: EKG - Cardiovascular Services

Hours / Shift: PRN/As-Needed, Days, 8 Hour Shifts + Some 12 Hour Shifts

 

Overview

The Advanced Cardiovascular Technician is responsible for entering all Holter Monitor and/or Cardiac Event Monitor studies in cardiac software, ensuring compliance for joint commission, in addition to all responsibilities for the Cardiovascular Tech.

 

Job Duties: 

  • Oversee QA measurements.

  • Precept new hires, students, and current co-workers as needed.

  • Performs EKGs.

  • Places Holters and event monitors.

  • Maintains proper logs and documentation of all tracings received.

  • Consistently communicates monitor results with ordering physicians and corresponding physicians.

  • Assists with scheduling patients appropriately in the scheduling system.

  • Assists physicians and staff with patient flow, obtaining dictation, chart preparation, etc.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Experience: None required
  • Certification: BLS Healthcare Provider (Basic Life Support)
  • Preferred Certification: CCT or CRAT through CCI or CET through American Allied Health
  • Other:
    • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
    • Basic computer knowledge.

 

Training: 

  • Our Patient Care Associate training program is an accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program, providing a comprehensive, hands-on experience. Join Mercy to gain valuable skills and credentials through this program in a supportive healthcare environment! 
  • If no previous experience, Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program will be completed as part of the new hire orientation process and must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position per state guidelines. 
  • BLS Required within one month of hire, completion of PCA competencies within 3 months of hire
