Maintains safe patient environment according to AWOHHN, ACOG, and AAP guidelines. Assist in annual unit duties and precepting new co-workers to the unit. Assist in providing care for Antepartum, GYN, LDRP, and Newborn patients. Maintains Professional and supporting relationships among health care teams by communicating information, responding to request, building rapport and participating in team problem-solving methods. Peforms duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy Service Standards Adheres to hospital policies and procedures. Attends monthly unit meeting, completes annual skills labs, and other recommended continued education. Promotes patients' independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patients and families to understand condition, medications, newborn and self-care skills; answering questions using methods / strategies that are indiividualized to better promote learning and compliance Performs scrub duties including cleaning and restocking the OB c-section suite during and after each case Completes daily checklists which includes crash carts, equipment, supplies, expiration dates, etc.


Education: High School Diploma or GED Scrub Tech Certification preferred, but not required
Licensure: NA
Experience: Knowledgeable of medical terminology. Have knowledge of and be sensitive to patients' rights. At least one year experience as scrub tech in labor and delivery unit or main OR. Knowledge of basic computer skills.
Certifications: NRP certification within 3 months of hire date BLS certification
Other: Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Basic knowledge of printer, computer skills, fax machine, etc
