The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of one year work experience in a public contact job, preferably service related and in a health care environment.

  • Certifications: Must have completed a Medical Assistant training program and maintain certification as a Medical Assistant, RMA, CMA or CCMA.

    Must maintain CPR certification.

  • Knowledge:

    Knowledge of health care field and medical specialties.

    Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.

  • Special Skills:

    CPR, EKG and Blood Pressure skills; basic computer knowledge; communication skills.

    Skill in performing assistance tasks appropriately.

    Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.

    Skill in understanding of patient education needs by effectively

    sharing information with patients and families.

  • Abilities:

    Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.

    Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.

    Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks.

    Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
