General Summary of Position
Performs a variety of technical and data management responsibilities for the newborn hearing screening program of the Department of Otolaryngology - Audiology Division. Assists with the daily activities of the newborn hearing screening program. This position is a PRN - Zero hour position . 


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Conducts newborn hearing screenings using both otoacoustic emissions and automated auditory brainstem response testing equipment.
  • Identifies which babies to screen and follows correct infant handling procedures. Screening is done according to written clinic protocol as evidenced by competency-based skills training.
  • Performs data management duties related to the screening program. Enters screening results into the tracking system and follow-up letters are generated and mailed to the appropriate people.
  • Maintains newborn hearing screening equipment, following appropriate manufacturer guidelines and infection control protocol.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED required and
    • On the job training is required, after which both written and practical assessments must be passed required and
    • CONSIDERATION WILL BE GIVEN TO AN APPROPRIATE COMBINATION OF EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE required

    Experience

    • Some experience with computers preferred

    Licenses and Certifications

    • No special certification, registration or licensure required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Knowledge of basic database management and spreadsheet applications.
    • Effective oral communication skills.
    • Must possess basic mathematical skills.
    • Must have the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks.
    • Ability to deal effectively and professionally with a variety of individuals.


    This position has a hiring range of $18.33 - $31.61
