MedStar Health Nurse Residency Program Overview
Participate in the year-long New to Practice Nurse Residency Program based on the Vizient Model
Attend a series of structured learning and practice experiences designed to assist with transition from new to practice to professional nurse and clinical leader at the bedside
Receive promotion to a Clinical Nurse II role upon successful completion the program, which results in a pay increase
Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit Highlights
29 bed unit
Involuntary and voluntary patients
Short stay crisis stabilization unit
Strong partnership with security team
Cross-training to work Psychiatric ED and Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Units
Collaborative and hands-on providers who respect nurses.

Schedule: Full-time Days – three 12-hour shifts and every 3rd weekend
Key Responsibilities
As a Clinical Nurse you will deliver proficient nursing care to patients and families whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex. You will identify current and potential complex problems of specific patient populations and critically analyzes trends and changes in patient status and plans appropriate interventions directly or indirectly through other nurses.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree In Nursing (BSN) from an accredited Nursing program preferred. If prepared at the associate degree in nursing level, required to enroll in a BSN program within 12 months of hire date and completion within 4 years required
- Prior work experience not required.
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state or jurisdiction of the facility seeking employment upon hire required. CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation CPR certification required by completion of introductory period (within 90 Days after start) required.
