General Summary of Position
Participates in full development life cycle including defining needs of the client, providing input for functional design, writing and configuring code, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting software solutions. Ensures the design of their domain of application(s) and the associated processes are completed successfully, leveraging best practices. Manages process improvements effectively, leveraging existing implemented applications to achieve better performance and outcomes. Documents all work as part of client deliverables, consistently using a professional documentation approach throughout the span of engagement and beyond, resulting in high-quality materials for internal and external usage. Recommends changes in development, maintenance, and system standards. Designs, develops, modifies, debugs, and evaluates programs for functional areas. Delivers quality code that meets requirements and specifications on time.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent technical experience required
Experience
- 5-7 years Experience in the healthcare industry required and
- 1-2 years 2 years of data analytics work experience in a healthcare setting required, utilizing cerner powerinsight, business objects, SQL, CCL, SAS or related analytics apps language required and
- 5-7 years Data analytics experience in a healthcare setting utilizing cerner products strongly preferred and
- Knowledge of cerner's data model and architecture. experience with one or more preferred programming languages, but not limited to: Java, C#, C++, VC++, Visual basic, Javascript, Ruby, Python or Objective C. required and
- Experience in constructing complex queries using SQL and strong understanding of database architecture and design (physical and logical) preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- No special certification, registration or licensure required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Requires advanced analytical, conceptual and technical problem-solving abilities.
- Understanding of data integration issues (validation and cleaning), familiarity with complex data and structures.
- Excellent interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills are required to support working in project environments that include internal, external and customer teams.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively interface with internal/external customers.
- Customer service skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Cerner Command Language (CCL) and Knowledge of Cerner Millennium systems preferred.
- Business Objects reporting (PowerInsight) preferred.
- Experience with relational database design and development (Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle) preferred.
- Successfully able to use analytics to drive end-user adoption preferred.
