General Summary of Position
MedStar Health is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as Senior Director, Ambulatory Surgery Service Line in Baltimore, MD. This role provides regional leadership for the planning, growth, and operational performance of our ambulatory surgery services, partnering closely with clinical, operational, and physician leaders to advance quality, access, and patient experience across the system.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Ensures compliance with MedStar policies and procedures and governmental/accreditation regulations.
- Collaborates with Vice President MMG Regional Chiefs Physician Executive Directors and/or Senior Management of regional hospitals to operationalize goals objectives and mission of the service line in the context of overall MedStar Heath objectives.
- Manages administrative operations of comprehensive interdisciplinary services effectively and efficiently; provides administrative leadership in collaboration with the Vice President MMG Regional Chief(s) or Physician Executive Director(s).
- Ensures quality and economic performance in assigned areas of responsibility to support delivery of health care services in conjunction with the Vice President MMG Regional Chiefs Physician Executive Directors and/or Executive leadership.
- Provides for the development and implementation of policies systems and standards; ensures documentation and compliance.
- Oversees recruitment supervision training performance appraisal process progressive discipline and dismissal of assigned personnel in accordance with MedStar policy and in partnership with Human Resources. Recommends and implements staff re-organizations as necessary. Assures that department is following all appropriate MedStar policies and procedures related to Human Resources.
- Manages effective resource procurement and allocation.
- Monitors performance of all assigned areas. Maintains a management reporting system providing timely data for planning and evaluating programs and services.
- Evaluates potential new initiatives capital requests or program changes in collaboration with the Vice President MMG Regional Chief(s) or Physician Executive Director(s).
- Maintains effective communication and working relationships with medical staff within area of responsibility and among other disciplines with which the service interfaces.
- Works with corporate MedStar Health including Strategic Planning Legal Services Managed Care and Senior Management and other areas to assure that the goals and objectives of the MedStar Regional Service line are met within the corporate context.
- Acts as financial officer for all areas of responsibility preparing revenue and expense budgets for assigned departments including all practice locations affiliated with each hospital entity. Identify budgetary objectives and financial goals for the areas of responsibility and establish systems for continuous management to meet revenue expense and capital projections.
- In collaboration with the Vice President MMG Regional Chief Physician Executive Director and/or Presidents creates business strategies including outreach to grow programs within the service line.
- In conjunction with MedStar Managed Care conducts oversight of insurance and non-insured contracting enrollment and credentialing.
- In collaboration with the Vice President MMG Regional Chief(s) Physician Executive Director(s) Vice President of MMG and/or Service Line Directors responsible for physician recruitment and employment contracting.
- Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
- Master's degree MBA/MHA or equivalent required
Experience
- 5-7 years progressive operational experience of which at least 2 years occurred in a healthcare system required.
- Experience with performance improvement initiatives preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- No special certification registration or licensure required

This position has a hiring range of
USD $134,118.00 - USD $265,616.00 /Yr.
