About the Job

General Summary of Position
Provides operational support to the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Serves as a senior business manager with administrative responsibility and accountability for the development and direction of the business activities of the Operations department within MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Serves as a project manager for strategic departmental and hospital-wide initiatives. Monitors expenditures and revenue to ensure compliance with divisional financial goals and coordinates activities with hospital administrators senior leadership department heads medical staff MedStar corporate and others. The incumbent also develops presents and maintains analytical tools and reports based on output from the system as it pertains to productivity staff efficiency and system effectiveness. Assists in developing and executing strategic delivery plans within the Operations department at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Facilitates operational and financial performance improvement initiatives within the Operations department.
  • Responsible for operational support of the overall planning development coordination implementation and management of the MedStar Washington Hospital Center annual operating plan document and process.
  • Formulates reviews and assists in the revision of policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Prepares and reviews financial and clinical reports and analyses for the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and Operations leaders that support divisional goals and assists in monitoring and analyzing performance reaching targets and enhancing operations.
  • Facilitates financial and operational accountability meetings across departments.
  • Under the direction of the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer responsible for the management of the department budget process financial outcomes and resource use in collaboration with the administrative team.
  • Works with departments to adopt and incorporate strategic initiatives understands economic considerations and works to support increased structure and accountability. Participates in the execution of long-term strategic delivery plans pertaining to cost quality and customer service for departments.
  • Develops and executes workflows and processes related to FTE recruitment onboarding and productivity across Operations department.
  • Creates dashboards and other data tools to support department goals and objectives.
  • Plans forecasts recommends develops coordinates prepares and monitors divisional operational labor and capital budgets business plans and new program finances in collaboration with hospital leadership as required.
  • In collaboration with Finance facilitates and executes revenue cycle improvements.
  • Manages capital process for Operations department including calculating ROIs and other financial justifications as required. Utilizes on-line financial management systems.
  • Scans the market environment for changes and advances that will impact on the services provided by MWHC including leading the development of the MWHC operating plan developing new services based on identified needs and work with internal and external organizations to develop coordinate and market these services.
  • Directs and conducts a wide variety of special projects and activities which may include preparing objective analyses appraisals and recommendations and researching collecting and analyzing financial trends and statistics and executing strategic plans.
  • Aggregates prepares and analyzes reports and information for the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for use in internal and external presentations.
  • Participates in educational/professional development activities.

Minimal Qualifications
Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required
  • Master's degree preferred

Experience

  • 1-2 years of related experience to include working knowledge of various business unit operations processes and policies required
  • Demonstrated understanding of operational process performance improvement mechanisms and data collection required

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Computer skills in Word and Excel

This position has a hiring range of

USD $82,617.00 - USD $157,352.00 /Yr.
