Medical-Surgical Unit Highlights:  

 

General Medicine (C4-1) is a 16-bed unit designed to provide care for patients who have complex medical diagnoses. Nurses on this unit provide care for a diverse patient population with a wide range of healthcare requirements. The unit specializes in providing continuous pulse oximetry to patients along with care through the spectrum of life by parenting with Capital Caring Agency. Our entire staff is committed to the MedStar Georgetown mission of cura personalis, or caring for the whole person. The Med/Tele nurses are supported with educational and specialty certification training opportunities. Professional development initiatives and leadership support empowers these nurses to become active and respected participants within the inter-professional team that provides evidence-based, compassionate care to our patients. Representatives from this unit are also involved in the implementation of the Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) Program that has expanded throughout the Division of Nursing and achieved Exemplar Status. The unit utilizes a blended model of care, which encompasses a team perspective with nurses, patient care technicians, and a virtual nurse. The model is to ensure each team member is collaboratively performing the fullest extent of their scope of care. 

 

General Medicine/Telemetry and Behavioral Health Unit (C4-2) is a 16-bed unit designed to provide specialized care for patients who need continuous cardiac monitoring, behavioral health, and complex medical nursing care. Nurses on this unit provide care for a diverse patient population with a wide range of healthcare requirements. Our entire staff is committed to the MedStar Georgetown mission of cura personalis, or caring for the whole person. The Med/Tele nurses are supported with educational and specialty certification training opportunities. Professional development initiatives and leadership support empowers these nurses to become active and respected participants within the inter-professional team that provides evidence-based, compassionate care to our patients. Representatives from this unit also led to the implementation of the Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) Program. After a pilot on our two medical units, it was expanded throughout the Division of Nursing and achieved Exemplar Status. The unit utilizes a blended model of care, which encompasses a team-based perspective and treatment approach using nurses, patient care technicians, and a virtual nurse. The model is to ensure each team member is collaboratively performing the fullest extent of their scope of care.  

  

Medical/Surgical Unit (C4-3) is a 16-bed Medical and Surgical unit which caters to a patient population requiring complex medical and/or surgical nursing care, including continuous pulse oximetry monitoring. The majority of patients on this unit have diverse and multi-system diagnoses. Working on C43 allows nurses the opportunity to develop their expert bedside skills including time-management, priority setting, clinical judgment, and critical thinking. Leadership support and professional development opportunities help empower our C43 nurses to advance up the clinical ladder and prepare them for any specialty interest pursuits throughout their career. This team's professional experience, compassion, interdisciplinary collaboration, and excellent communication skills help to ensure a nurturing and quality patient care experience, while also providing a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for all associates. 

 

*New* General Medical/Surgical (C6-1) is a newly opened 16-bed General Medical–Surgical–Telemetry unit dedicated to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care in a collaborative and supportive environment. Nurses on this unit care for a diverse patient population with a wide range of medical and post-surgical needs—making it an excellent setting to build strong assessment skills and clinical confidence. 

Recently relocated to a newly refreshed space, C6-1 was thoughtfully designed to enhance patient safety, staff efficiency, and interdisciplinary collaboration. This is a unique opportunity to join a team in its early stages and help create a positive, inclusive, and engaged unit culture. 

 

*New* General Medical/Surgical (C6-2) is a new 16-bed General Medical–Surgical unit offering nurses the opportunity to care for patients with complex medical and post-operative needs in a modern, patient-focused environment. This unit supports a broad clinical experience, allowing nurses to strengthen core Med–Surg skills while delivering compassionate, evidence-based care. 

The unit has recently moved into a newly refreshed, state-of-the-art space designed to support optimal workflows and patient outcomes. With continuous pulse oximetry monitoring, C6-2 emphasizes early intervention, patient safety, and high-quality clinical care.

Qualifications  

  

  • ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.  

  • Clinical Nursing Experience required.  

  • Active DC RN License required  

  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required (AHA or American Red Cross) required. 

 

 


This position has a hiring range of

USD $41.78 - USD $63.66 /Hr.
