General Summary of Position
The incumbent in this position is a staff therapist who participates in the evaluation and treatment of patients based upon current principles and practices of PT. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy policies procedures and standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • Provides direct PT evaluations and re-evaluations including assessment of prior and current level of functioning setting appropriate goals and making appropriate discharge recommendations in accordance with standards of practice. Provides direct PT treatments according to standards of practice including patient and family education progression of treatment plan and implementation of appropriate therapeutic interventions
  • Utilizes appropriate documentation forms and abides to PM&R's documentation standards.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other members of health care team relative to patient treatment and progress as well as other affiliated agencies with regard to effective discharge planning.
  • Coordinates and prioritizes own schedule in relation to demands of patient treatment and other departmental responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains CEUs per state requirement for continued professional competency.
  • Adheres to all Department of Health and Joint Commission regulations with regards to the physical environment and patient care.
  • Minimal Qualifications
    Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy required
    Experience
    • 1-2 years related clinical practice experience in an acute care or rehabilitation facility preferred
    Licenses and Certifications
    • PT - Physical Therapist D.C. license or qualified candidate for DC license required
    • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required
    • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    • Current knowledge and skills in physical therapy including ability to work with multi disciplinary personnel effective communication skills flexibility and ability to problem solve.

    This position has a hiring range of

    USD $60.00 - USD $60.00 /Hr.
