General Summary of Position
Assists with the planning and management of the day-to-day operations and serves as a resource person for the Sterile Processing department. They will direct and check work of others in the absences of management personnel.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assists with staffing planning and control of the operational functions in conjunction with the requirements of all areas.
  • Assumes responsibility for the department in the absences of management personnel.
  • Assists and instructs in the supervision of specialized technical skills requirements and work performance in the department.
  • Works with Assistant Director in developing quality monitors in-service programs and orientation programs.
  • Identifies problems area such as inefficiencies equipment issues staffing issues and customer complaints and takes corrective action.
  • Communicates with Director of Perioperative Services OR Resource nurse and / or Operating Room Service Team Leaders to assess the flow of the current day surgery schedule and proactively plan for the next day schedule.
  • Communicates with Sterile Processing technicians to ensure instruments are available as needed.
  • Collaborates with Sterile Processing technicians and gives support to aid in a productive and smooth operation of the department.
  • Relieve Sterile Processing technicians of their duties in the event of any absences.
  • Cleans and decontaminates patient equipment sterilizes instruments and supplies using various types of sterilizers. Loads sterilizers in the correct manner and sets controls to the specified time and temperature according to the manufacturer's guidelines. Completes appropriate documentation records prior to sterilization and reads and initials the sterilizer printout verifying that all parameters have been met.
  • Accurately assembles all instrument procedure trays and case carts following content lists as a guide.
  • Dispenses products requested by verbal written or telephone requisitions for equipment and supplies.
  • Provides constructive feedback to employees as needed.
  • Annually provides performance evaluation information to the Director.
  • Minimal Qualifications
    Education
    • High School Diploma or GED required
    Experience
    • 3-4 years of experience inclusive of six months in supervisory position required
    Licenses and Certifications
    • CRCST - Certified and Registered Central Service Technician Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required and
    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    • Requires the ability to read and write; and knowledge of grammar and arithmetic including fractions and decimals.
    • May require the use of standard office/medical equipment (i.e. typewriter personal computer data terminal onlineprinter calculator telephone facsimile copier sterilizing equipment blood pressure cuff or tables); thepreparation comparison or checking of reports records and related data; and basic use of formulas charts tablesdrawings and knowledge of their application.

    This position has a hiring range of

    USD $20.17 - USD $35.04 /Hr.
