Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Flexibility required for occasional evenings and/or weekends based on operational needs.
Summary:
At MedStar Health, safety is foundational to everything we do. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Environment of Care Coordinator to support regulatory compliance, life safety standards, and environmental health initiatives across our healthcare environment.
Reporting to the Director of Environmental Health & Safety, this role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and NFPA standards while supporting inspection programs, fire safety initiatives, and departmental data analysis. Primary Responsibilities:
Support Environment of Care & Life Safety Programs: Coordinate implementation of safety, health, and regulatory compliance policies and procedures in alignment with OSHA, EPA, and NFPA standards.
Conduct & Coordinate Inspections: Perform and document environmental surveillance rounds, safety inspections, fire/life safety risk assessments, and hazardous condition reporting; participate in fire drills on and off campus.
Data Collection & Compliance Tracking: Manage and analyze inspection data using electronic compliance systems (e.g., ZetaSafe), track trends, and support regulatory reporting and documentation.
Regulatory Awareness & Readiness: Maintain working knowledge of healthcare safety codes, standards, and regulations to support survey readiness and continuous compliance.
Operational & Logistical Coordination: Coordinate equipment and furniture needs for conferences and meetings; manage departmental requests for relocating, removing, and disposing of office furniture and equipment.
Safety Education Support: Assist with associate and departmental safety and fire training initiatives.
Minimal Qualifications:
Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Associate's degree preferred
Experience
1–2 years of experience in healthcare environmental health and safety compliance
Experience with data collection, trending, and compliance software systems (e.g., ZetaSafe) required
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Ability to analyze data and identify compliance trends
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and NFPA standards preferred
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a regulated healthcare setting
This position has a hiring range of
USD $28.76 - USD $48.96 /Hr.
