About the Job
PRN (Per Diem) opportunity.
Schedule: 1 day per week (every Friday), either 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM or 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Additional weekday hours may be available for vacation or sick coverage.
Training Schedule: Approximately 3–4 weeks, ideally Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (or until the route is completed each day).
General Summary of Position
Provides chauffeur services for hospital including transportation of associates, patients, lab reports, specimens, medical records, mail supplies and packages as directed. Performs external courier services. Delivers and picks up mail from hospital satellite locations and post office.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Chauffeurs patients visitors guests and associates between several locations according to assigned schedule.
- Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
- Coordinates daily post office activities: Picks up all incoming mail sacks purchases hospital's supply of postage stamps obtains postage for postal meter and handles registered and certified mail.
- Maintains hospital vehicle in clean condition; monitors preventive maintenance and requests repairs as necessary.
- May perform duties of courier escort and messenger functions.
- Participates in meetings and on committees.
- Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Picks up and delivers various items and materials to and from hospital and various satellite locations and other Baltimore metropolitan area delivery points. Delivers specimens blood and medications. Maintains storage requirements for biological specimens and other items handled during transport.
- Prepares and maintains accurate transportation logs vehicle fuel consumption logs and other data as required. Coordinates paperwork for repairs and maintenance of loaned car; obtains gas.
- Schedules and coordinates daily routine services and assigns transporters. Ensures that services are performed on schedule.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
- Ability to read, write and perform simple arithmetic calculations required
Experience
- 3 months to learn hospital organizational layout and courier routes required
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid driver's license in the State of Maryland required
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Baltimore metropolitan area.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
This position has a hiring range of
USD $18.00 - USD $29.74 /Hr.
