General Summary of Position
Coordinates and instructs training programs for healthcare professionals including those offered by the American Red Cross. Programs may include American Heart Association (AHA), Advanced Life Support (ALS), or American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)/American Heart Association (AHA). The instructor ensures that all courses meet current clinical standards and regulatory requirements provides hands-on skills training and evaluates participant competency to promote high-quality patient care in emergency situations.
While this is a Baltimore based position, please note that this position will also be required to travel to MedStar locations in the DC area approximately 40% of the time.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in the clinical and marketing efforts of the MedStar Health SiTEL MedStar Institute for Innovation and Training Center(s).
- Maintains instruction/training aids and equipment.
- Participates in other quality education programs for healthcare providers including Code Blue Preparedness In Situ Advanced refresher courses and conferences.
- Plans and instructs Continuing Education Courses for healthcare professionals and lay rescuer within the AHA and/or ARC guidelines.
- Plans, coordinates and instructs AHA advanced courses including but not limited to Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Maintains accurate records of course attendance completion and certification in accordance with organizational and accrediting body requirements.
- Stays current with advances in resuscitation science guidelines and instructional methodologies by participating in ongoing professional development and instructor recertification.
- Evaluates learner performance and provides constructive feedback to support skill development and knowledge retention.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
- Associate degree in education or healthcare related field. Credentialed by relevant professional association required
Experience
- 3-4 years as AHA educator and 2 years of professional experience as a practitioner in a clinical environment with significant exposure to direct patient care required
- One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
Licenses and Certifications
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation required
- BLS - Basic Life Support current American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS required
- ACLS INSTRC - ACLS Instructor Certification required
- Health Services\PALS INSTRC - PALS Instructor PALS instructor certification if supporting ALS training program preferred

This position has a hiring range of
USD $28.76 - USD $48.96 /Hr.
