Financial Operations Analyst II

Job Summary:

Performs moderately complex financial analysis and reporting to support operational and strategic needs. Works independently on recurring tasks and collaborates with internal teams to complete monthly activities and contribute to special projects. Demonstrates growing proficiency in financial tools and systems and begins to provide insight into trends and variances.

Responsibilities:

  • Generates forecasts and analyzes trends related to medical loss ratio and other financial initiatives with moderate complexity.
  • Compiles and reviews initiative performance data, incorporating actuals and prior forecasts to support reporting to operational and financial teams.
  • Creates and maintains financial models, dashboards, and scorecards to evaluate cost-saving or revenue-driving initiatives.
  • Conducts research and analysis to support business decisions, including basic ROI and performance studies.
  • Stays informed on relevant industry developments and contribute insights to the team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Analytics, or Business Administration.
  • 2 years finance or financial planning and analysis experience.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including Excel.
  • Proficient knowledge of accounting rules and concepts and the ability to apply the appropriate accounting standards to the relevant job duties.
  • Knowledge of rates of return, depreciation, investments, portfolio covariance analysis.
  • Working knowledge of company core systems and interrelationships.
  • PowerBI experience preferred.

Financial Operations Analyst III

Job Summary: 

Delivers complex financial analyses and reporting to support operational areas and broader business initiatives. Leads assigned monthly financial activities and contributes to cross-functional projects with minimal oversight. Interfaces regularly with corporate departments and provides guidance to less experienced colleagues.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports corporate departments, both within and outside of Finance, by generating forecasts and analyzing trends related to medical loss ratio management initiatives.
  • Compiles and reviews initiative performance data, particularly related to medical cost management and risk revenue. Reports findings to operational teams and financial leadership, incorporating actual performance, previous forecasts, and estimated impacts.
  • Creates and maintains financial models, scorecards, and dashboards to forecast and evaluate the financial impact of cost-saving and revenue driving initiatives.
  • Conducts research and studies as needed, including return on investment, performance regression, and other financial topics.
  • Stays informed on industry trends and developments to identify potential business implications and propose solutions to management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Analytics, or Business Administration.
  • 3 years of progressive finance or financial planning and analysis experience.

  • Proficient knowledge of accounting rules and concepts and the ability to apply the appropriate accounting standards to the relevant job duties.

Sr. Financial Operations Analyst 

Job Summary: 

Designs and delivers complex financial analyses and reporting to support strategic decision-making across operational areas and broader business initiatives. Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams on finance initiatives, offering insights and recommendations that drive business outcomes. Leads assigned monthly financial activities and special projects with minimal oversight and serves as a resource and mentor to less experienced team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Advises corporate departments, both within and outside of Finance, by generating forecasts and analyzing trends related to various medical loss ratio management initiatives. Compiles and reviews initiative performance data, particularly related to medical cost management and/or risk revenue to report out to operational departments and financial management, taking into consideration actual performance, previous forecasts, and estimated impacts.
  • Creates and maintains financial models, scorecards, and dashboards and forecast. Evaluates the financial impact of cost-saving and/or revenue driving initiatives.
  • Analyzes initiative performance and prepares reports and recommendations to management.
  • Performs more complex research and studies as needed (examples include rates of return, performance regression, investments, and other areas as required).
  • Stays informed of industry trends and developments in order to propose solutions to management regarding any related business ramifications. Supports, trains and mentors less experienced team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree with Accounting, Finance, Analytics or Business Administration major. MBA preferred.
  • 5 years of progressive finance or financial planning and analysis experience.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Advanced Office skills, including Excel.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting rules and concepts and ability to apply the appropriate accounting standards to the relevant job duties.
  • Knowledge of rates of return, depreciation, investments, portfolio covariance analysis.
  • Proficient in the use of other automated accounting systems and an ability to serve as a training resource to junior staff members relative to the relevant systems.
  • PowerBI experience preferred.
